For over four decades, Fox Knives® has been engaging with a dynamic and competitive market and has chosen to pursue research and development with a bold and distinctive approach: a constantly evolving design.
The VULPIS series was born from the need to create a compact, versatile pocket knife with a modern style that perfectly complements the company's historic products. The inspiration for this line stems from the DUCA, the name given to the Maniago pocket knife, a knife created in the second half of the 19th century in Maniago, when hunting penknives were produced with blades of various sizes, ivory toothpicks, and tweezers for removing thorns. These knives were presented at the National Exhibition in Turin in 1888 by the Bet Giovanni company, which won the gold medal for the quality of its products. It was thus that, most likely, Luigi Amedeo di Savoia, Duke of Abruzzi, decided to visit one of the company's two stores in Turin, where he saw and ordered the four-blade pocket knife, which he chose as an integral part of his equipment for the expedition to the North Pole he led in 1899.
